The hooter sounded at 11am on November 11 for Axe Cliff Senior golfers to stand in remembrance for Armistice Day – a beautiful scene of respect on a beautiful course.
Over 30 seniors played the second round of the Winter League and the winner in windy conditions was Mike Wickins, ahead of Tony Snell and Tony Strong.
Tony Snell, Leighton Morgan and Colin Jones recently won the annual Bowmaker Waltz competition with a magnificent team score of 82 points.
Last Wednesday, in reasonable conditions, Axe Cliff Ladies played their last round of the County Prize Stableford competition with a clear winner in Stella Thompson on 30 points.
Sandra Walker took second spot, on countback from Paula Heasman both on 24 points. Stella is the overall winner, amassing 131 points and Paula was second with 127. They will now both go forward to represent the Club at the County Finals in 2023.
