It was an evening to celebrate the conclusion of racing at Wiscombe Park on Saturday – the 2022 Awards Evening held at Wiscombe House bringing the season to a close.
Wiscombe commentator, Geoff Pickett, kept the evening moving along as Master of Ceremonies. Wiscombe Ltd Chairman, Colin Pook, and MD, Peter Isaac, reflected on the season in their speeches – one of the most successful seasons in Wiscombe Park’s 64-year motorsport history.
Wiscombe Ltd Director, Maddy Raynor, made the presentations, which started with the Wiscombe Championship Club Trophy, awarded to the MG Car Club South West Centre.
The Ron Willson Memorial Trophy Young Driver Award was presented to Luke Holt, who has had a great season in his Ford Puma.
The Sir Nicholas Williamson Trophy for the NHCA (bike and sidecar) competitors went to Paul Jeffery – unfortunately, Paul was unable to attend, so fellow competitor Kevin Dewell accepted the award on his behalf.
Awards were then made to the top six finishers in the Tillicoultry Quarries Wiscombe Park Championship. The Top Six were:
1. Ian Ingleheart – Westfield Cosworth SE 89.25pts
2. Steve Wareham – Morris Mini 88.97pts
3. Clive Stangle – Mitsubishi Evo 5 85.88pts
4. John Simpson – Ford Escort Mk2 85.35pts
5. Ben Bonfield – Jedi Mk4 84.96pts
6. Tim Porter – Darrian T90 84.71pts
This year’s Tillicoultry Quarries Wiscombe Park Champion, Ian Ingleheart, was getting his hands on the trophy for a record fifth time!
The evening was brought to a close with a splendid buffet provided by Boveys Down Farm.
Peter Isaac congratulated all the award winners and competitors who have entertained South West motorsport fans throughout 2022 with incredible displays of speed hillclimbing. Spectators also saw a new outright Hill Record set – a 32.94s run set by Alex Summers during the British Championships in July.
