Kilmington are sitting in a lovely position near the top of the A Division in the Tolchards Devon Cricket League, just one point behind the leading duo of Plymouth and Thorverton after the third round of fixtures.

Hatherleigh were the visitors on Saturday and set a reasonable total of 204/9, Ryan Davies (61) tops-scoring for his side. Josh Cann (3/49) and Sam Cucontis (3/34) led the Kilmington attack.

It was the bat, however, that did the real damage for the hosts. After losing the opening duo fairly cheaply, Cucontis took control of the match with a wonderful unbeaten 108 from 122 balls. Cann (37) provided support at the other end, as Kilmington reached their target with three overs to spare.

The smiles are back on Seaton faces and they are doing a fine job of erasing some tough 2022 memories. The latest success in B Division East was a hugely impressive eight-wicket victory at home to Ipplepen, who amassed a challenging total of 229/9. Philip Collins (4/42) was the lead bowler for Seaton.

The home batsman never once flinched in their reply. Openers Damian Baxter (51) and Matthew Hewer (81 no) enjoyed a partnership of 119 and Adam Bilston (39) and Ben Morgan (22 no) saw Seaton over the line.

In D Division East, an impressive five-wicket haul from Andrew Pulman was sadly not enough for Upottery, as they went down to a 44-run defeat at Topsham St James, while Feniton’s long trip to Barnstaple was far from fun. They were bowled out for 77 and the North Devon hosts reached the total inside 17 overs.

There was a fabulous local derby in G Division East and the bragging rights between Feniton 2nds and Honiton 2nds were shared after a rare tied match.

Batting first, captain Ben Stone (35), Mark Butler (22) and Reece Whittington (22) were the main men for Feniton in reaching 175/8 from 40 overs. Richard Hill (4/19) was the top bowler for Honiton.

Harry Haysom (30) and Martin Wilmington (24) helped build a steady Honiton reply but they stuttered toward the end and it all came down to the final ball. Needing one run to win, Will Cowley swung his bat from the bowling of Ben Stone but Brandon Shaw pouched the catch for a tie.
