A local derby in D Division East of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League resulted in a resounding victory for Upottery, as their powerful bowling attack proved too much for the hosts from Feniton.

Batting first, Ryan Pulman ignored losing his first two partners for ducks to compile a steady half century and James Mitcham then took on the mantle with a terrific 79 from 85 balls. Upottery reached a score of 218/9, despite the heroic bowling efforts of Feniton’s Matt Davies, who finished with impressive figures of 5/54.

Pulman swapped his bat for the red cherry and quickly removed the Feniton top three. Jonathan Pyle (19) and Davies (12) briefly restored some hope for Feniton and Mark Lilley hit a late unbeaten 21 but Upottery’s bowlers were too good on the day. Pulman, Zara Maynard and Matt Frost all took three wickets each, as Feniton were dismissed for 120.

In the A Division, Kilmington slumped to their first loss of the campaign with a gloomy display at Torquay. Kilmington were all out for just 92 and the hosts reached their target inside 16 overs and without the loss of a single wicket.

Seaton also slipped to defeat in the B Division, as the visitors from Bovey Tracey 2nds racked up a total of 201/9. Damian Baxter (3/33) was the lead bowler for Seaton, but the batsmen failed to fire, with Max Johnson’s 29 the highest score, as they were all out for 135.

Uplyme & Lyme Regis hold second spot in C Division East after securing a comfortable six-wicket victory at Sidmouth 2nds. Steve Batey (4/30) led the way with the ball, as the hosts were skittled out for just 122. Preston Hilless (44) was the top scorer in a cruise of a chase for the Lyme lads.

In E Division East, Honiton survived a tense finish before beating lowly Sidbury by 10 runs. Dave Haysom (45) and Andy Canniford (47) were the main men for Honiton in setting their visitors a target of 183.

Sidbury, still seeking their first win of the season, lost three wickets early but mounted a middle order fightback and looked in a strong position on 146/5. Honiton rallied, with Rob Ingram taking four wickets, and the visitors fell 10 runs short.
