One of the highlights of the golfing year for Lyme Regis Golf Club Ladies is ‘Lady Captain’s Day’.

This year’s Captain, Rosemary Shepherd, organised a hugely enjoyable golf competition followed by a glass of Pimms and a delicious lunch. Forty ladies embraced the sporting theme for the day playing their golf in fancy dress!

The competition format, played in teams of four, was a Waltzing Stableford and was hotly contested. There were three teams within one point of the winning score of 103 points. Other prizes were awarded for the ‘most innovative’ fancy dress, ‘2’s and there was even a prize for the neatest golf card!

A week earlier, in the Ladies Open, the format was a three-ball Bowmaker with the two best scores per team being recorded to give the final result. The winning team from Exeter Golf Club and Woodbury Golf Club were Sue Gannon, Julie Bowne and Linda Holdway with a score of 72 points.

There were also prizes for nearest the pin as well as a ‘twos’ competition run by the Pro Shop. Hanna Jacobsen, the competition organiser, was supported by 10 members of the ladies’ section and the golf club office staff and catering department.
