Axe Cliff golfers braved the cold for the seniors Magic Multiplier, a stableford comp where everyone needs to score, writes Dave Bruce.
The runaway winners were Captain Steve Thompson, Vice Captain Richard Gibbons and cool Chris Alexander who amazingly amassed 137 team points, 16 points ahead of Michael Chadwick, Dave Morgan and Mike Rymer who came second and who were 21 points ahead of third placed Andrew Bailey, Richard Bush and Chris Read.
The previous week, the Seniors held their more serious Winter Texas Scramble and came in with some great scoring. Nigel Pritchard, Stuart Mackie and Alan Morgan were the overall winners with 46 points but were pushed all the way by David Lacey, Simon Wellington and Bill Dearling taking second spot but only on countback with 45 points from Richard Gibbons, Michael Chadwick and Mike Rymer.
Jesse Matthews and Brian Waller won the third round of the Winter League.
