There was a good turnout for the Seniors Good Friday Stableford, with the Axe Cliff Golf Club course holding up well despite all the dreadful weather.

Mike Chadwick is certainly the man in form at present and took the honours in division one.

His win was scoring a net par round of 36 points, leaving in his wake Bill Dearling and Nigel Pritchard to take 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Colin Hales played heavenly, taking division two by storm with an amazing 42 pts, well ahead of our treasurer Bill Polley in 2nd on 35 pts, and match secretary Leighton Morgan in 3rd with 29.

The Men's Section held their annual Easter Bowl on Easter Sunday and Richard Gibbons, our seniors captain, showed he can still play with the youngsters, winning with a below par score of net 68.

John Gait and retired postie Paul Clode pushed him all the way with their net 70 apiece in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Despite the conditions, they were able to have their first April Medal last Sunday.

Luke Snell fought hard to win division one with a fine net 76, leaving Jimmy Matthews and Mike Cottam to take 2nd and 3rd places with their 79's.

Andy Gabb, a former head greenkeeper, showed he can play a bit as well, taking division two with his 77.

Mike Chadwick, another evergreen, was 2nd on 78 and Mark Winterbottom did good in 3rd spot with a net 81.

Many thanks to our small and young greenkeepers in keeping our lovely course in good condition so we can keep playing.

Always a great welcome from Adrian behind the bar and young Jane keeping our clubhouse and changing rooms so smart despite all our wet gear.
