Honiton Golf Club held its Club Championships last weekend with sunny weather and great conditions.
The competition played over 36 holes in the medal format, saw Ben Phillips and Ann Trayling take top honours.
It engaged participants in an intense day under the sun, with a well-prepared course, bringing the perfect battleground for Phillips and Andy Clark - the two men’s favourites.
However, Phillips with a fine 36 score of 141 was the winner.
In the ladies' competition, it was much closer with only 3 shots separating the first two but it was Ann Trayling, with a 36-hole total of 176, who beat Sarah Loader with Jayne Jackson back in third.
Simultaneously, the Alec Gosling Memorial Cup had more than 70 entries with Olli Olliff outdoing Peter Wainwright on countback and scoring a Nett 62.
Third-place Joshua Lane closely followed with a score of 64, with Katherine De Lacy two shots behind.
On Friday, 59 players entered the Seniors Championship for the Ron Blatchford Cup.
With both fine weather and the course playing well, there were some good scores on the field.
Ian Collier, Peter Waters and John Jackson all posted nett 69, but way out in front on his own was Geoff Stone.
Geoff carded a terrific nett 65 and was crowned Seniors Champion.
