Medals galore for Honiton club

Four partnerships from Honiton Gym Club brought back medals from Bristol last weekend, and another narrowly missed out a on a podium position. The 10 gymnasts, all from the club’s ‘squad acro’ group, were competing against gymnasts from the south west and Wales at the City of Bristol Invitational. Current south west champions Megan Moore, 13, and Charlotte Beviss, 9, took first place in the grade two girls pairs event thanks to their clean routines and fun choreography. Charlotte Drawer, 10, and Corinna Challis, 9, who have only recently moved up to grade 2, were not far behind in fourth, showing great promise for the future. In the 11-16 girls’ pairs competition, Lauren Davey, 12, and Sarah Hodkinson, 16, cemented their reputation by taking the gold medal with the highest scores of the competition in both of their routines. Rachel Palfrey, 16, and Georgia Rooke, 13, were hot on their heels, taking the silver medal.

Buster Tutcher and Ashley Wallis, both 11, produced a fine performance, taking gold in the grade 2 boys’ pairs event. They scored 25.73 – their highest score in competition to date. Rachel and Georgia and Lauren and Sarah are now in preparation for the British Tournament, which takes place in Stoke on Trent at the end of November.
