Andy Harrison fondly remembered at Honiton B Team annual Dinner

Phil Wall hosted the annual Honiton B Team Dinner last Saturday in his usual entertaining fashion, writes Andy Wagner.

He called upon a wide range of members throughout the year, but the camaraderie generated by the games was in evidence by the banter throughout the night.

Phil always gives as good as he gets as he reminded players of individual and collective foibles that had cropped up as we fought for Honiton’s ‘honour’ in the matches. Suffice to say our win record wasn’t nearly good enough but we all took collective responsibility and stuck the blame squarely on Phil’s shoulders for our woes.

Throughout the night mention was made of a fellow player who couldn’t be there with us in person.

Andy Harrison passed away mid-season, but his contribution to the Club and the B Team was undiminished.

Sadly he wasn’t with us to defend the East Devon Trophy he’d won so magnificently the year before, but our glasses were raised in his memory.

A brilliant meal (as always) and generous, entertaining company, the whole evening was rounded off nicely by Phil’s accomplished son Andy treating us to his repertoire of songs. Thanks Phil for another enjoyable season.
