AVR runner Carol Austin swapped the English sun for the Portuguese variety and ran the Falesia 5k on while on holiday at a training camp in the Algarve, writes Dave Mutter.

She won the W50 in 22:35, a new W50 course record for a very hilly, but beautiful route around the village of Falesia.

Austin finished ahead of locals, Germans, Russians and fellow British runners.

No doubt this was followed by a drop or two of fine wine!
