Despite the chilly overcast conditions there was a good turnout of AVR’s for the 15th running of the Full Monty Cute 10 mile race at Stoke sub Hamden near Yeovil, writes Dave Mutter.

Full of undulating hills and pretty much all off road – the race prides itself on having a hill for every mile of the course – it’s not for the faint hearted!

Timings are not available at the time of writing but in all 10 Axe Valley Runners - Amy Greenhalgh, Graham Newton, Robin Britton, Eleanor Wood, Roger Bramley, Emma Kiernan, Geoff Woodward, Alan Morbey, Steve Reynolds and John Larcombe completed the course ably watched over by course referee (and AVR chairman) Garry Perratt.

Amy Greenhalgh was second lady home, Eleanor Wood won the ladies 50-59 category whilst Graham Newton and Robin Britton were first and second in the men’s 60-65 class.

Patrick Devine-Wright but did a ‘warm up’ for next Saturday’s Brecon Winter 40 race by running the Devon XC championships at Exeter Arena. He finished 24th (5th MV40) in the senior race, consisting of a bewildering array of little and big laps, and a fast and furious pace from start to finish. Tom Merson from Exmouth was the winner.
