On Sunday pretty much seven months to the day since his nasty car accident, Luke Reed stepped onto the start line of the UK 70.3 Half Ironman held at Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor, writes Dave Mutter.
The 70.3 part of the title is how many miles the race covers: 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and a 13.1-mile run.
This race is said to be the hardest of its kind in the world!
Those of you that know Exmoor will understand why.
Luke had a cracking race on a very hot day finishing 127th out of 1700 finishers in 5:32:57. His split times were: swim 32.10, bike 3.10.15 and run 1.44.20.
