Graham and Diane Newton lined up with 500 other runners for the start of the Torbay Regatta 10k road run on the final Sunday of August, writes Dave Mutter.

This was a fast course, starting at the Pavilion at Torquay and running over to Paignton, twice around the green and back to Torquay. The heat made the going hard but Graham managed to get back in 43:15, coming 86th overall, second over 60 male vet and taking 36 seconds off his personal best. Diane, not to be outdone, took nearly nine minutes off her pb, coming in 434th in 1:03:13.

Sue Venn completed the Battle of Sedgemore 10K in 56:46, just a tad slower than when she last ran it 6 years ago.

Luke Reed travelled to Dorney Lake in Windsor near Slough to take part in the VOTWO Evening Triathlon series. With the World champs around the corner it seems a lot of the qualifiers were looking for a midweek race to sharpen their fitness. There were 270 finishers with Luke finishing 19th in a very strong field. His Split times were: 750m lake swim - 11.49; 20k flat four-lap bike - 29.09. 5k flat road run - 18.47, giving him an overall time of 1.01.06, a personal best for a Sprint Distance Triathlon.
