Eleven AVR runners tarvelled to Seaton to contest a duathlon from Seaton scout hall, writes Dave Mutter.

They ran two miles, cycled 10 then ran two more miles.

The winner was a surprise to many (except perhaps himself), young James Sibley clocking a very impressive 1:04:33.

James Trewick was second in 1:05:11, Garry Perratt third, 1:08:05 and Eleanor Wood first lady, 1:13:02.

Other times were Tim Sibley 1:09:41, Paul Johns 1:11:43, Phil Bayliss 1:15:03, Geoff Woodward 1:15:05, Steve Reynolds 1:18:57, Simon d’Albertanson 1:21:38 and John Greenhalgh 1:26:11.

Many thanks to Janet Woodward for timekeeping and Amy Greenhalgh for the post-race teas and bacon butties.
