Last Sunday morning AVR athletes Tim Sibley, James Sibley and Simon D’Albertanson travelled to Portland to take part in the Osprey Sprint Triathlon, writes Dave Mutter.

For Tim and James it was their first time attempting a Triathlon.

The event included a 300m pool swim, 20km bike ride out to the light house on the end of Portland Bill and back followed by a 5km run by Portland Harbour.

A very strong southerly wind for the exposed cycle and run made for testing conditions. Out of the 165 starters Tim finished 32nd in 1:13:52, James was 68th in 1:19:06 and Simon 86th in 1:21:07.

Timings where as follows: Tim swim 7:00 bike 42:20 run 21:36. James swim 6:50 bike 45:05 run 24:17. Simon swim 6:55 bike 45:31 run 26:31.

A tad further away Lesley Adams ran the 5K Cannon Hill, Birmingham, parkrun finishing 193rd in 27:42.
