AVRs Diane Newtion completes maiden off road event
Diane Newton ran her first off road half-marathon, the Area of Outstanding Beauty North Devon half-marathon last weekend, writes Dave Mutter.
The run is a demanding, but beautiful run that covers a variety of terrain enough to test any runner so she was very pleased to complete the course in 2:41:02, in 314th position out of 389 runners.
The race was won by Ronnie Richmond from Bideford AAC in 1:24:23.
Graham Newton went one step further, running the full marathon.
The race started under clouds and rain, but by mid-day the sun was beating down relentlessly so Newton was more than pleased to finish in 23rd position overall out of 177 runners in 4:00:11, taking the over 60 men’s veteran prize, knocking a full 15 minutes off his previous best time for this race.
