Six AVRs took part in a social ‘Petal Run’ on Sunday, named for its six loops from Colyton looking (rather unconvincingly!) like a flower’s petals, writes Dave Mutter.

Garry Perratt and Matt Clist ran all six loops for a total distance of 40 miles, Phil Bayliss covered 30 miles and chief pacemaker Paul Tolchard did a fine job of keeping the speedies at a sensible starting pace on the first seven-mile leg!

The stars of the day, though, were Amy Greenhalgh who had previously never done further than a marathon and Eleanor Wood who ran a significant personal best at a race the day before rather than resting like the rest of the gang, both ladies clocking up an impressive 35 miles each! Many thanks to Phil Bayliss for hosting the run and keeping the runners supplied with tea between each loop.

Meanwhile, also on Sunday, Emma Kiernan ran the Wellington 10-mile race and finished 21st out of 92 in 1:15:32l.
