Last December AVR athlete Luke Reed had a pretty serious car crash which badly injured his ankle, writes Dave Mutter.

However, he has since worked very hard, with lots of support from friends and family since the accident to make a good positive recovery.

He made a big step towards full fitness by competing as a guest in a Royal Navy Duathlon.

It was a 5k run, 10-mile bike and 2.5k run.

Reed did well, finishing 10th overall and first non-military, in a time of 56:47.

The splits were, 5k - 18.33 / 10-mile - 27.30 / 2.5k - 9.30.

He would like to thank everyone for their support over the last few months, and is now looking forward to the triathlon season.
