On a beautiful sunny morning, nine AVR’ went to run the Wambrook Waddle near Chard, organised by Chard Road Runners, writes Dave Mutter.

It is a fantastic off-road undulating 10k enhanced by the vivid display of bluebells in the woods.

The first AVR home, finishing 10th, was Josh Hopson in 46:50 followed in 20th place by Eleanor Wood, third lady and first vet 55 in 50:08.

Next home was Will Watson 29th, 53:12. Margaret Pearce had a very strong run taking 55:20, winning her first female vet 45 trophy.

Both these female runners won a splendid engraved hip flask. Chris Hill and Alan Morbey had a good ding-dong with Chris finishing in 56:47 and Alan right on his heels, 57:03. Steven Morbey had help on the hills from Bella the dog and finished in 60:01. To complete the AVR 10k group was Yvette Hill in a very impressive time of 63:22.

The Fun Run was won by our own Chris Watson who was presented with a trophy the size of an Oscar. His time was 7:11 and that saw him finish well ahead of the second runner.

Many thanks, to Chard Road Runners and the owners of the farm, for allowing us to use their magnificent tithe barn for drinks, cakes and barbecue.
