AVRs Reed and Easton perform well at Royal Navy Duathlon Championship

Two Axe Valley Runner were on the start line of the Royal Navy Duathlon championship at Merryfield Airbase in Ilton Somerset, writes Dave Mutter.

Luke Reed and Richard Easton took part in the race that consisted of a 5k run followed by a 9-mile cylce and concluded with a one-and-a-half mile run.

In very windy conditions the one lap run, three lap cylce and half a lap roudn the airfield was a touch task, especialy as parts of the race were run into a strong head wind.

The pair were pleased with their efforts; both completed the first run in around 18.55mins.

The other times were not recorded, but Easton went on to finish second overall with Reed around two minutes behind him infifth place out of 50 competitors.

Both athletes would like to thank the Royal Navy for allowing them to take part in this race.
