This year’s Axe Cliff Easter Egg Hunt competition, played on Easter Sunday was well attended with some great scoring particularly from the ‘beastie behind the bar’, namely Phil Hellier and his right hand man Andy Jeffery, well supported by young Alex Taylor, who also plays a mean game of pool, writes Dave Bruce.

Before they went out they all had their special 'ginger beer shandy' which did the trick and they won with an amazing 86 points.

The said drink is now the most popular drink at the club, but has not worked for me – yet!

Andy has quickly become a very important staff member of the club since he joined us in December last year.

Aged 30, he is married to Beth and was born in Slough, but grew up in Seaton and was a former junior member of Axe Cliff.

He will make good steward material which is not surprising as he was a former manager for two busy Wetherspoons pubs in Exeter for some six years.
