Once again, another busy week for Axe Cliff Golf Club ladies, writes Dave Bruce.

On Monday, they played Dainton Park in the Devon League at home. A very close match with most games going to the last hole, but they showed their mettle by winning overall by 3-and-a-half games to 2-and-a half and our reserve also won her match. It is unlikely, however, that we will qualify for the semi-finals due to the points system, but still have one home match to go.

Wednesday was a strange day with only three ladies left at Axe Cliff, so they just had a friendly, whereas some were playing for the past captains at Dainton Park versus Dorset and Caroline Bond, our captain, was representing the club with Stella Thompson at the South West Regional Finals of the Australian Spoons. This is an England Golf-run competition held at Cumberwell Park near Bradford-on-Avon in Wiltshire. They were the top Devon team and came a credible 9th place, with 39 points, out of a field of 38 teams countrywide.

On Thursday, Jo Donmall and Margaret Kenchington played their quarter-final in the Devon Vets Inter Club 4BBB at Teign Valley against Thurlestone. What a game, in which,

with a little luck they could have won but sadly lost on the 18th with the last putt.
