Axe Cliff Haven Cup success for Pritchard and Mackie

Despite heavy rain in the vicinity last Friday, the 29 members who participated in a stableford enjoyed favourable conditions, writes Helen Kenworthy.
The round also incorporated an additional event, the Lavarack Stick, open only to members aged 70 and over.
The winner with 33 points was Clive Davie (21), who also won the stableford. Two players tied with 32 points, and, on countback, second place went to Alan Vincent (17) with Tony Strong (9) having to settle for third.
Bill Polley scored the only two of the day.
The Axe Cliff men played The Haven Cup Format pairs texas scramble with the allowance of 20 per cent. The first pair emerged as Nigel Pritchard and Stuart Mackie with a score of net 66.8.
In second were Richard Gibbons and Steve Anning (nett 67.8).
There were two twos with a father and son combination achieving it! Simon and Alex palmer each bagging one a piece.
Last Wednesday the ladies’ played a medal and also the Axe Cliff Cup Round One (the best three from five format).
The medal results saw Margaret Kenchington take first with Helen Kenworthy second and Sandra Walker third.
The Rabbit Trophy winner was Lesley Crawford.
