Following on from The Grizzly Weekend, when the runners had to put up with almost blizzard conditions, but were helped with the shortened race, our wonderful Axe Cliff golf course made a miraculous recovery, writes Dave Bruce.

It all meant that, by Wednesday, the ladies enjoyed a lovely day with very interesting conditions leaving everyone never quite knowing whether a good shot would be penalised by landing in the remnants of snow and ice still to be found on area of the course that were not visible!

That proved only a small price to pay and there was one clear winner of the ‘Bring and Win’ stableford competition.

It was certainly a fun format with everyone bringing in a gift and the winner downwards had the first choice of the gifts on display.

Barbara Cummings won the honours with a fantastic 36 points; a little way behind was Margaret Kenchington on a good 31 points; then four ladies all tied on 29 points, but separated on countback leaving Anne Jarvis on third; Stella Thompson in fourth and Sandra Walker in fifth.
