The Axe Cliff ladies enjoyed spring-like weather for their latest Wednesday action - round two of their County Prize Stableford competition, writes Margaret Kenchington.

However, as was said, albeit tongue in cheek by one observer: “Typical! They moan about the weather, but can’t make hay whilst the sun shines.” As a result, the scores did not quite represent the very favourable conditions.

However, Anne Jarvis did find the magic touch with her round and it was she who took the honours with a score of 34 points.

A long way back was lady captain Caroline Bond, probably still suffering from her French expedition, with her score being only 29 points.

It was a close contest for third place with Helen Kenworthy taking it with 28 points, thus edging Paula Heasman, who also scored 28, into fourth spot.

Look out this week, ladies, when we are hit with what have been described as arctic conditions in some quarters!
