Archant

Jo Donmall, Axe Cliff’s past lady captain, has taken on the role of Devon County Junior Organiser, writes Margaret Kenchington.

The first match of the 2018 season was played at Axe Cliff where the Devon girls took on Axe Cliff’s Devon lady vets captain Barbara Cummings and her Devon lady vets team.

For the occasion, the weather was much kinder than it had been of late with plenty lovely sunshine and reasonable temperatures on what was arguably the first really pleasant day this year.

With eight players competing on each side, the format was four-ball better ball, with four pairs on each team. The Devon Girls recorded a very creditable win of three games to one.

All the games were played in very good spirit with lots of jokes and laughs amongst the players.
