Last week was a good one for the Axe Cliff seniors as they landed wins in two inter-club matches, one home and one away, writes Janet Dack.

The victory away was a 4-2 success at Windwhistle, a first away triumph of the season and the triumph also completed a season’s double for the team.

The winning pairings for Axe Cliff were Chris Walker and Mike Tomes, Gerry Turner and Leighton Morgan, John Mant and Neil Moorcraft and the pairing of Malcolm Glass and Iain Bain.

A few days later the home victory, over Bridport, produced another 4-2 score line, evening things out after a similar score, in favour of the hosts, when the pair met at Bridport.

The winning partnerships for Axe Cliff included Chris Jowett and Neil Moorcraft, Bill Grundy and Mick Tomes, Rob Heard and Hugh Willis and Gerry Turner and Iain Bain.

In a recent mixed greensome at Tiverton, Margaret Kenchington and Iain Bain scored 41 points to win third prize and a £50 voucher for each player.
