Having had to cancel the first round of the Masters the previous week due to heavy fog, 40 members tried again last Friday and were rewarded with dry, but humid conditions, writes Dave Bruce.

The competition is played as a medal round over four separate days.

Off to a good start are Chris Walker on a nett 70 followed by Adrian Bishop with a nett 72 and fancied Steve Gibson on a nett 73, but that was only on countback from three others also on 73, namely Dave Sammons, Rob Grove and Neil Moorcroft. It is going to be a close competition this year.

Tony Strong produced the lowest gross of 82 on the day and bagged a two on his card as did Mike Jamieson, Leighton Morgan and even Dave Bruce. The three players who will be our DMVGA representatives at Ilfracombe later in the year are Steve Gibson,Dave Sammons and Chris Walker. We wish them every success.
