The Axe Cliff seniors hosted the Vivary Park seniors in a league match, which comprised the standard six pairs representing each club, writes Pete Motson.
Although Axe Cliff notched up a notable 5-1 win, the return match at Vivary Park could test the Axe Cliff players, as good straight play will be essential on the Vivary fairways which are much narrower than the Axe Cliff course.
The two team captains swapped a modest joke during the after dinner pleasantries and the whole day was concluded in good spirits.
