The monthly Axe Cliff Stableford was contested on Friday when the fog once again became a problem, but this time it did not clear quickly enough and play was ultimately abandoned, writes Dave Bruce.

However, the elements were not too bad for last Sunday’s playing of the second round of the club’s Winter League competition.

The players just had to contend with the occasional shower and, as a result, there were some very good scores posted and subsequently, handicap reviews made!

In top spot was Tristian Wakely with an amazing score of 43 points.

Not far behind came Danny Hellier with 39 and he just edged out top barman Phil Hellier, who had to settle for this after his good return of 39 points.

Tony Strong joined Tristian and Phil as the three players on the day to record twos.
