The ladies continued their impressive form in the Devon County Foxlands League with an excellent 84-71 victory over Budleigh, writes David Harris.

with the home rink of Brenda Edwards, Daphne Ryan, Lilian Lovatt, and Margaret Crompton winning well (32-12) and the away rink of Phil White, Barbara Mowatt, Jean Kesterton, and Marion Harris also victorious (18-14).

The men won a hard-fought home friendly against Sidmouth men (58-49) with narrow victories on all rinks – John Hill, Mike Knight, Neil Solomon, and Bob Sherborne (15-11), Stephen Apsey, Phil Stephens, Brian Parsons, and Paul Moffitt (26-22), and David Harris, George Mabon, Gerald Knott, and Norman Denslow (17-16).

In the mixed friendlies, Ax lost by just three shots at home to the Nomads (49-52) with a win for Margaret Brown, Diana Courtenay-Smith, Marion Harris, and Eric Skeemer (15-13) before going on to beat Bridport (70-33) with wins on all rinks – Tony Payne, Pauline Knight, Jean Kesterton, and Neil Solomon (23-6), Lilian Lovatt, John Hill, David Harris, and Margaret Crompton (27-13), and William Cook, Diana Courtenay-Smith, Mike Knight, and Eric Skeemer (20-14).

The men lost their Devon Over-60s’ match against Exonia (52-103), best Ax home rink being Howard Keep, Eric Skeemer, Doug Looskan, and Paul Moffitt who lost (14-20).
