Axe Valley Community College year eight girl’s are cerebrating after being crowned the Under-13 East Devon Schools Badminton champions, writes Liz Slade.
Having made it through the preliminary rounds in November the four Axe Valley girls overcame Sidmouth in the semi-finals before facing Colyton Grammar in the final.
It was a tight and tense match with Axe Valley taking the first singles and doubles game to go 2-0 up. Colyton then drew all square at 2-2 by winning the next singles and doubles game.
That left the outcome hinging on the final doubles game and it was close all the way through before Axe Valley won it 15-13 to lift the title for the second year in a row.
