Lively Lenton leads AVR athletes home in the 2013 Exe to Axe race.

The Exe to Axe race has swelled to double its numbers (over 200), writes Dave Mutter.

Two buses were at Seaton Tramway car park to take eager runners to Exmouth so they could run the beautiful coastal path from Exmouth home to Seaton.

The weather was cloudy, cold windy and at times sunny.

The ground was dry, so like the Grand National, the going was good. Congratulation to Tim Lenton who won the event by blasting back in only 2:46:58.

Matt Clyst came in third, 2:52:21 and Eleanor Wood was third lady, 28th overall in 3:38:19. Geoff Woodward was 48th, 3:47:57; John Day 67th, 3:55:25, Myrtle Croad 98th, 4:11:26; John Larcombe 100th, 4:12:13; Steve Reynolds 106th, 4:15:24 and Richard Dodge 140th, 4:33:54.
