Before Covid, you would train for the London Marathon in freezing, wet winter days to be greeted with a steaming hot race day.

This year, competitors in the race in London and the Virtual event trained during the summer and had perfect weather to race.

There were some absolutely fantastic performances in London, with Duncan Staddon finishing 530th out of 41,610 finishers in a superb 2:42:54. Three other AVR’s beat the magical three-hour barrier with Terry Emmett 590th, 2:44:05; Rob Collier 1,128th, 2:51 41 and Richard Hardy 1,452nd, 2:54:57.

All four produced PB’s, and Rupert Pady performed spectacularly to finish 3,690th in 3:14:49 and Tim Sibley was 5,821st in 3:23:50. Graham Newton had an inspired run finishing 8th over 70 male 6,604th overall in 3:33:46.
