Axminster bowlers have been forced to endure a difficult period with two matches having to be cancelled owing to lack of availability through County games and holidays, writes David Harris.
However, what action there was proved to be most enjoyable. First up a 58-43 defeat at home to Taunton Deane against whom the only winners for Axminster were the trio of John Packham, Brab Hallowes, and Margaret Crompton, winning 15-5.
Charmouth were the next visitors and they produced a gallant effort in what turned out to be a 120-45 home success.
There were wins for all the home rinks; Brenda Edwards, Ken Webster, and Margaret Crompton (39-7), Daphne Ryan, David Harris, and Brian Clark (31-9), Morrison Brown, John Ellis, and Budgie Hallowes (31-13), and Margaret Brown, Brab Hallowes, and Les Clark (19-16).
The return match is in late July when I have little doubt that they (Charmouth) will give us a run for our money!
