Axminster bowler Apsey through to third round of National Under-15 KO Cup

Congratulations to Stephen Apsey on getting through to the third round of the National Under-15 KO Competition, writes David Harris.

He travelled to Yeovil last weekend and came away with an excellent victory against another up-and-coming youngster in Jack Goodland.

Apsey won the first leg 13-3 before losing the second leg 4-8, but then came back to win the play-off end 2-1. A very strange scoring system!

The Ladies had a disappointing Christmas period, narrowly losing at home to the Devon Patrons (51-59) with only Pam Hunter, Brenda Raistrick, Alison Glyde, and Nola Stephens managing a win (21-16) before losing at home to a strong Honiton side (45-65) - alas with no winners!

In the mixed friendlies we lost at home to the Nomads ((50-71) with our only winners being Margaret Brown, Brenda Raistrick, Pam Hunter, and Nola Stephens (20-19).

However, we beat Sidmouth at home in the final game of this period with a thrilling 59-58 victory with wins for Phil White, Les Clark, Roger Legg, and Brian Clark (19-15) and Margaret Brown, John Hill, David Harris, and Margaret Crompton (20-18).

May I wish all our members a very Happy and Healthy New Year!
