Owing to a combination of cancellations and illness, only a handful of Axminster games have been played during the past fortnight, writes David Harris.

A home fixture against Yeovil VI was won 63-38 and in the match there were fine wins for Brian Cursley, Les Clark and Margaret Crompton (25-6) and John Hill, Ann Burn and Alfie Day (20-13).

That success was followed by back-to-back defeats for Axminster men’s teams.

First up, in a Devon Over-60s League meeting, Exonia, who currently top the league, took the match honours before a narrow defeat was suffered at the hands of the Devon Vice-Presidents.

The visiting team won 53-39, despite a terrific effort from Malcolm Denslow, Gerald Knott, George Mabon and Brian Clark, who enjoyed an excellent 23-19 success on their rink.
