The Axminster indoor season has got underway in great style with teams recording three wins and just the one defeat, that by a margin of just two shots, writes David Harris.

The annual launch to the indoor term was the opening of the rinks, this year presided over by club president Norman Copland, followed by a round-robin and tea with the ‘chocs’ going to Brenda Edwards, Sue Stephenson, David Harris, and George Mabon!

The friendly action began with a 64-43 home win over Ottery with a 32-5 rink success for Phil White, Morrison Brown, David Harris, and Margaret Crompton and a creditable 18-all tie for Pam Hunter, Malcolm Denslow, Derek Pheby, and Norman Denslow.

Next up that narrow reversal to visiting Honiton, who won 53-51. In this match there was a 22-17 victory for Phil White, John Hill, Neil Solomon, and Derek Pheby. That was followed by an 89-29 win over Dunkeswell with wins on all rinks - Morrison Brown, Pam Hunter, David Harris, and Margaret Crompton (35-2), John Packham, Phil White, John Hill, and George Mabon (35-9), and Malcolm Denslow, Margaret Brown, Ann Clayton, and Brian Clark (19-18).

Last, but not least a visit to Sidmouth resulted in a 66-50 victory with wins for Malcolm Denslow, Margaret Brown, Jean Kesterton, and Brian Clark (33-11) and Morrison Brown, Pam Clark, Ann Clayton, and David Harris (16-13).
