Axminster bowlers have suffered a disappointing period, losing all three matches played away on grass, but did manage a win in our only home game, writes David Harris.

In the mixed friendlies, we started with an away defeat at Fenton (42-80) with our best effort coming from Mike Mellor, Ann Burn, and Ann Clayton (17-17).

We then had a good win at home to Charmouth (103-16) with wins for Valerie Mellor, John Hill, and Brian Clark (45-1), Mike Mellor, Ann Burn, and Ann Clayton (27-8) and Sue Bond AN Other and Nigel Bond (31-7).

In our final mixed friendly we lost at Seaton (61-95) with only Pam Clark, James Windsor, and Ken Quick managing a win 23-9).

The men lost their match at Okehampton in the Over-60s League, beaten 34-24 with their only ‘success’ being a 14-14 tie achieved by John Ellis, David Harris, and George Mabon.

Unfortunately, our other Over-60s match, due to be played at Marina(Dawlish)was rained off!
