The recent bad weather has cost Axminster five matches - both Over-60s matches at North Tawton and Hemyock, one ladies' match at home to Seaton, and two friendly games against the Patrons and South Petherton.

The highlight of the matches played was a thrilling win in the home friendly with Ilminster (66-64) with Pam Clark, Patrick Hicks, and Lilian Lovatt excelling (29-9). Axminster lost the four other friendlies played. At Sidmouth (52-88) Ann Clayton, Alan Taylor, and the 'blooming' Margaret Crompton (26-16) were Axminster's only winners, at home to Dunkeswell, in a tight game (75-82) with Brenda Flanagan, Patrick Hicks, Frank Bridge, and Lilian Lovatt (23-16) winning well and then, at Taunton Deane, in another close game (64-74) with Les Monk, Christine Hobbs, and David Harris (17-14) were the Ax best rink. Finally, the club was really caught on a 'sticky wicket' at Chardstock where they simply could not cope with the wet conditions and were soundly beaten (32-137) - however, bowlers were made very welcome and enjoyed the experience!

The only other match played was a ladies' 2-rink game at Budleigh where they put up a good show on the grass but lost 29-41.
