Axminster had a fine 84-45 home victory over Wrington, writes David Harris.

There were wins on all rinks; Margaret Stancliffe, John Ellis, David Harris, and Ann Clayton (23-9), Alan Brown, Muriel Smith, Alan Curtis, and Bob Sherborne (20-8), Daphne Ryan, Norman Copland, Pam Hunter, and Brian Clark (20-12), and Phil White, John Hill, Stephen Apsey, and Marion Harris (21-16).

Unfortunately the next game at Charmouth was cancelled as the hosts were unable to raise a side and a friendly at Chardstock was abandoned after ten ends owing to persistent heavy rain with Chardstock well ahead!

There was defeat for the Axminster Over-60s who went down 54-33 at Tiverton West End.

However, the team bounced back well to beat Tiverton BC 38-18 at home with wins on both rinks; David Harris, Howard Keep, and Bob Sherborne (24-8) and Frank Bridge, Les Clark, and Sid Milburn (14-10).

The Axminster Ladies’ Day was enjoyed by some twenty members with the men organising the tea, etc.

In the round-robin the winner was Chis Todd with the runners-up spot being shared between Pam Clark, Sheila Martin, and Mary Preston.
