Axminster will play next summer in the Tolchards Devon League C Division East after their disappointing season ended on a losing note, beaten by 135-runs at an Ipplepen side that will play next season in the A Division.

The home side batted first and, despite a splendid fivefer from Alex Wraight (he finished with figures of 5-44) and a brace from Gary Larcombe (albeit for an expensive 75 runs), closed on a respectable 237-8.

Mat Pile (32) and Brad Cross (30) provided the top two individual scores in a reply that saw the final wicket go down with the Axemen on 102.

An 11th defeat in 18 B Division outings leaves Axminster completing the campaign in the second from bottom berth with their 171 points being 22 short of safety.

It all means that in 2016 Cloakham Lawns will be the venue for visits from the likes of Seaton, Feniton and Kilmington.
