Axminster indoor bowlers continue good form

Axminster continued their impressive start to the indoor season, winning three of the four matches played, writes David Harris.

First up was an excellent win against Honiton in the County Over-60 mens’ league with an exciting one shot victory over Honiton (78-77). Victorious were the away rink of David Harris, Malcolm Denslow, John Gough, and Charlie Barber (27-12) and the home rink of Mike Heneghan, Roger Legg, Bob Sherborne, and Paul Moffit (15-13).

The club’s bowlers then won a mixed friendly at home to Chard (86-43) with wins on all rinks - Pam Hunter, Margaret Brown, David Harris, and Brian Clark (34-8), Phil White, Malcolm Denslow, Ann Clayton, and Derek Pheby (29-15), and Morrison Brown, Alan Foster, Gerald Knott, and Margaret Crompton (23-20).

Next up a success at home to Chardstock (73-40) with wins for Morrison Brown, Gerald Knott, Ann Clayton, and Margaret Crompton (29-7) and Phil White, David Harris, Neil Solomon, and Brian Clark (29-12).

There was a defeat on the visit to Honiton (80-55) with only Morrison Brown, Daphne Ryan, Ken Quick, and Brian Clark managing a win (19-16).
