The men have had a bad fortnight, losing both Over 60s' matches and their County Trophy contest at Torquay.

Their first Over 60s game against Budleigh ended in a narrow 74-86 defeat with only David Harris, Philip Stephens, Tony Isted and Norman Denslow managing a win (22-10). Against Mid Devon, however, all rinks lost in a 47-106 thrashing!

Likewise in the County Trophy we came very much second best to a young (mainly international) side in Torquay who won 40-130 with 'Smiler' Jenkin, Frank Bridge, Bob Sherborne, and Eric Skeemer (22-17) sparing our blushes somewhat!

In the mixed friendlies, we enjoyed some success. Despite losing narrowly at Padbrook Park (55-57) with a best rink of Jean Bruckshaw, Cliff Bruckshaw, Bob Sherborne and Margaret Crompton (26-16), and at Budleigh (22-53) where both rinks lost, we came back strongly with home wins over the Nomads (63-48) with Ann Clayton, Betty Hudson, Joyce Copp, and Margaret Crompton (19-11) playing well; and Chard (67-42) with Les Monk, Chris Todd, Joyce Copp, and Eric Skeemer (32-8) on top form. Our final home game against Chardstock ended in a thrilling tie (57 all) with Lilian Lovatt, Pam Hunter, Frank Lintott and the 'unfailing' Margaret Crompton (25-17) excelling.
