The indoor season is now well under way with everyone thoroughly enjoying their games and generally a very good standard of bowling being shown- lots of smiling faces which is good for us all!

The men narrowly lost their friendly at home to Westlands (47-54) in a game that has now become a very popular fixture.

Axminster’s best rink was Les Monk, John Packham, Neil Solomon, and Ray Macdonald (26-16).

In the mixed friendlies, Axminster started with an excellent win at home to Chardstock (71-38) with Phil White, Margaret Crompton, David Harris, and Derek Eldridge in good form (33-13).

Axminster then lost narrowly at Honiton in a triples match ( 66-71) with the best effort coming from Pam Clark, Ann Clayton, and Bob Sherborne (24-16).

However, the club got back to winning ways at home to the South-West Umpires’ team with an excellent 87-31 victory, with Chris Hobbs, Jean Kesterton, David Harris, and Brian Clark top scoring (38-6).

The SW Umpires side come from as far away as Bournemouth and parts of Cornwall and do wonderful work for various charities - they are much to be admired!.

Unfortunately the club’s game at Dawlish was cancelled as they were unable to raise a side!

After their great start to the season the men's Over-60s came down to earth with a bump - losing on all rinks home and away to the very strong Torbay Club!
