Axminster-based netball team, Flamingos is celebrating double success, writes Trish Warwick.

The ladies recently landed the 2013 Honiton Netball Summer League title to sit alongside the Winter League honour they landed earlier in the year.

The team has carried the name of the Flamingo Swimming Pool in Axminster for many years, having been superbly supported by the Axe Vale Festival Committee.

That sponsorship has now run its course and the ladies are seeking new backing.

This netball team comprises a special group of local women, with many gifts and talents both on and off the netball courts.

Coming from a variety of backgrounds many of the players provide coaching for both primary and secondary school children, supporting swimming skills, first aid training and umpiring at local netball clubs.

There is now an exciting opportunity for any company, with a healthy interest in their local community, to sponsor this team. To have their company logo emblazoned on the netball kit, to feature regularly in local newspapers and to watch with associated pride as this team goes from strength to strength.

The annual running costs are around £1,000 which the team mostly bear, so any sponsorship would be gratefully received.

Anyone able help to or indeed needing further information is asked to contact the team treasurer Jean Turner via email at
