The Axminster outdoor season was launched by the club’s lady president Lilian Lovatt and a roll-up followed, since when the bowlers have claimed a brace of excellent home wins, writes David Harris.
The action began with a five rink meeting with Lyme Regis. The expected close encounter saw Axminster win 103-86.
The winning Axminster rinks were; Brab Hallowes, Denise Davis, John Davis, and Bridget Hallowes (26-11), Lou Harris, George Mabon, Bob Sherborne, and Margaret Crompton (28-14), Brenda Edwards, Ken Webster, David Harris, and Howard Keep (18-13), and Pam Clark, Margaret Brown, John Hill, and Doug Looskan (21-17).
That win was followed by an excellent 82-48 success over Culm Vale with wins on all rinks in another very enjoyable match.
The successful home rinks were; Morrison Brown, Barbara Mowatt, and Ann Clayton (21-8), John Hill, Les Clark, and Margaret Crompton (23-13)), Joan Quick, Margaret Brown, and Ken Quick (21-12) and Pam Hunter, David Harris, and Brian Clark {17-15).
This coming Saturday (May 7), Axminster entertain Bridport with a 2pm start.
