Axminster Over-60s end season with thrilling home victory over Tiverton West End

Axminster Over-60s men’s team win their final Devon League match of the season with a thrilling home victory over second-placed Tiverton West End, writes David Harris.

Axminster secured a 38-37 success with John Hill, David Harris, and Bob Sherborne winning 19-18 and Sid Milburn, Frank Bridge and Brian Clark drawing their encounter 19-19.

In the two away friendlies played we lost narrowly in a triples match at Hemyock (52-56) with a win for Joan Quick, Ken Quick, and Brian Clark (14-11) and a tie for Phil White, David Harris, and Frank Bridge (13-13) before being well beaten at Feniton (59-99) with no winners, but again a very enjoyable afternoon!
