Bad weather halting golf? It wasn’t horizontal sleet was it!

But, as with all the other sections of the club, no play was possible due to adverse weather conditions water-logging the course.
We will have to learn in due course whether the missing games will be played or whether that is an end to it and the winners are as they stand.
But adverse weather conditions? I've known games where the barmy golf enthusiast has battled horizontal sleet in order to finish the 18 holes they had started, admittedly praying that a higher authority would put an end to their misery by closing the course.

Hardened golfers have played on days when they would have looked very closely at their beloveds if they suggested a bracing walk along Sidmouth front to pass the time of day.
So I suppose we should be thankful that we got news of the course closure well in advance of our tee-off times and could organise the day for more productive endeavours like thoroughly cleaning our kit in anticipation of the better weather to come ... or taking our beloveds on that much postponed walk along Sidmouth front.

After all, there's no such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing.
Ladies Section: The Ladies competition this week was also cancelled due to adverse ground conditions. However, the club president, Anne Davies, organised a walk for any ladies wishing to visit Otterhead to view the wonderful display of snowdrops.
Wellingtons and walking sticks were the order of the day, but everyone agreed it was a most enjoyable morning.
A vote of thanks to Anne was given by lady vice- captain Sue Ritchie.
